Madan Sabnavis
Madan Sabnavis is an ‘accidental economist’, having become one after the doors to public service and management closed to him. Starting his career in 1987 as a corporate economist, he has worked with various companies including the erstwhile ICICI Limited, ICICI Bank, L&T, NCDEX, CARE Ratings and Bank of Baroda. Over this period, he has authored around four thousand articles in various newspapers and online channels. These include over 200 book reviews in The Financial Express. He has occupied the position of Chairman/Co-Chairman of economics-related committees of industry chambers such as IMC, BCCI and FICCI. He has been a member of committees of SEBI and IIBF. He has written seven books, with the last one being in the fiction genre. He can also be seen giving his views on economic matters on various television channels.
A postgraduate in economics from Delhi School of Economics, he graduated in Economics (Honours)—also flippantly called Ego (Honours)—from St Stephen’s College, Delhi. His interests lie in literature, music (Western, Indian classical, rock and Yanni), fiction, theatre and socio-political subjects.
