An astounding tale of an Indian village boy who becomes a successful entrepreneur in the most competitive business environment in the world—Japan—and that too in the technology space!

A farmer’s son from a remote village in Odisha, Debendra Mohanta went from supporting his family by driving bullock carts and ploughing fields to studying in a non-English-medium school, and yet making it big in the IT sector on the world stage. Born in 1971, Deb has been widely recognized as a disruptor in the technology space over the last three decades, first as a professional working for top IT companies and now as an entrepreneur.

Currently, Deb is dedicated to giving back to his state, offering skill development programmes in digital and IT solutions. Bringing together the best of business practices from India and Japan, Bullock Cart to Business offers invaluable lessons and an in-depth guide for personal and professional growth for entrepreneurs and executives.

Debendra Mohanta is an IT professional with over three decades of experience in various global business management and transformation programmes as well as enterprise applications.

He is currently CEO and President of Inaho Digital Solutions and Director of The Indian Commerce and Industry Association Japan (ICIJ), and a former member of Forbes Technology Council. He has been instrumental in setting up the IT businesses of HCL and L&T Infotech in the Asia Pacific (APJ) region, especially as the latter’s Area Vice President and Country Head. For the last 12 years, he has been actively involved in multiple collaborative projects in enterprise IT between Japan and India, as well as non-IT projects such as the Bullet Train project and providing services in skill development in India.

Debendra did his B.Tech from NIT, Rourkela; MBA from IIT Kharagpur; and a leadership programme from Harvard Business School.
