From the valleys of Nepal to the halls of Oxford, Diaries in Global Health follows one doctor’s journey across cultures, continents and convictions. Drawing on early clinical encounters in Nepal, field experiences across South and Southeast Asia, and humanitarian work with Médecins Sans Frontières in South Sudan, it is a deeply personal story of how travel, medicine and human connections shape the way we understand health, equity and belonging.

Dr Bipin Adhikari is a medical doctor and social scientist with the University of Oxford, based at the Mahidol Oxford Tropical Medicine Research Unit (MORU) in Bangkok. Originally from Nepal, he has worked in Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Tanzania, and Nepal, examining how communities and health systems respond to infectious diseases, research interventions, and antimicrobial resistance. He completed his DPhil at the University of Oxford on community engagement for malaria elimination in Laos. His research explores the social, ethical, and policy dimensions of global-health interventions through qualitative approaches. He also mentors early-career researchers across Asia, supporting regional social-science capacity in global health.
