ABOUT THIS BOOK

A manifesto for ethical reflections
A former Roman emperor from AD161–180, Mark Aurelius, goes on to advise himself in his journal. A series of 12 books, this piece of Greek and philosophical literature finds resonance with today’s readers too, even after centuries. Having gone through the text, you will not be able to stop yourself from revisiting his advice should you find yourself in trouble in any phase of your life. His spiritual exercises, which included reminders to make himself humble, empathetic, generous, patient and strong in the face of adversities, make for an imperative read. You can get an insight into the life and philosophy of the last of the ‘Five Good Emperors’.

AUTHOR OF THE BOOK

Marcus Aurelius Antoninus was born on 26 April AD 121. His real name was M. Annius Verus, and he was sprung of a noble family which claimed descent from Numa, the second King of Rome. He died in 180, while campaigning against the barbarian tribes on Rome’s northern frontier.
