What if some of India’s oldest stories are also the ones we know the least?

Step into a world where rivers remember their births, forests breathe with ancient spirits, mountains become ancestors, animals speak with wisdom and memory lives on through songs. Tales from Tribal Land brings together twenty-six captivating stories from tribal communities across India, offering rare glimpses into traditions that have been cherished for generations, yet remain largely unheard.

From creation myths and sacred landscapes to heroic legends, supernatural encounters and timeless tales of love and loss, each story opens a window into a distinct worldview shaped by deep connections to nature, ancestry and community. Retold by a diverse group of writers, many from the communities whose stories they tell, this anthology celebrates the richness, diversity and resilience of India’s tribal heritage.

Enchanting, thought-provoking and deeply human, Tales from Tribal Land invites you to discover voices that have always existed—and stories that deserve to be heard.
