‘An enjoyable romp through Mussoorie’s colourful past.’ —Ruskin Bond

In Mussoorie Nostalgia, newspaper columnist Anmol Jain takes you back in time to revisit some of the hill station’s most magnificent splendours as well as hidden gems.

This is not your run-of-the-mill travel guidebook with a list of must-see sights and travel advice. This extensively researched book brings to life present-day tourist attractions in a historical context. It has been written by someone who has grown up in the hill town and, more importantly, knows it intimately.

Anmol goes wandering around old markets, tripping into Old Brewery, crashing old British parties, greeting ghosts of haunted streets, paying homage to the fallen at Landour Cemetery, peeping into the private letters of the goras and discovering so much more about this legendary town.

Anmol Jain was born and raised in Mussoorie. His family is among the oldest in town, residing since 1901. He is an MBA from a premier institute and, for two decades, has worked as a consultant with international development agencies focussing on climate change and rural livelihoods, particularly in the Himalayas. He also writes for The Times of India. He is also an inveterate vagabond—roaming the mountain slopes during his free time, meeting people and indulging in captivating gossip.
