‘I thought you were doing particularly well this year. We seem to have a good crop and you were
working so hard. What has gotten into you?’ said his wife.
Joyappa almost answered that it was beer, popcorn and lots of delicious meat that had ‘gotten
into’ him. In the nick of time, he realized the question was rhetorical. So, he maintained a stoic
silence.
Joyappa, well-known to everyone as Joy, is a coffee planter and family man from Coorg (Kodagu) in
Karnataka, who valiantly tries to stay in his wife Susheela’s good books. Susheela seems to have the
uncanny ability to know when he is up to mischief but has a difficult time dealing with his immature
behaviour. Although Joy works very hard to harvest his crops during the crucial period known as
‘The Season’ and starts the season with the best of intentions, his irrational schemes, quirky friends
and unconventional methods lead to many embarrassing and comical situations.
Joy and his ‘supporting cast’ are back in this hilarious sequel to Joy in Coorg. Follow Joy’s journey as
he wreaks havoc at his son’s posh boarding school, tolerates his wife’s preachy relatives and snobbish
friends, makes history in the field of medicine, alienates some people and befriends others, and
generally has a grand time as he good-naturedly muddles through life.
