Zafar Futehally (1920-2013), the longest-serving Vice President of the Bombay Natural History Society, also founded and edited, for forty-five years, the seminal Newsletter for Birdwatchers.
Awarded the Padma Shri in 1970 and the Order of the Golden Ark in 1980, he was the Founder-trustee and Vice President of World Wildlife Fund–India, and served on the Executive Board of the IUCN. He was also closely involved with Project Tiger and the International Ornithological Congress.
