Zafar Futehally

Zafar Futehally (1920-2013), the longest-serving Vice President of the Bombay Natural History Society, also founded and edited, for forty-five years, the seminal Newsletter for Birdwatchers. Awarded the Padma Shri in 1970 and the Order of the Golden Ark in 1980, he was the Founder-trustee and Vice President of World Wildlife Fund–India, and served on the Executive Board of the IUCN. He was also closely involved with Project Tiger and the International Ornithological Congress. Shanthi and Ashish Chandola’s involvement with natural history filming, photography and writings spans over three decades. Besides a whole host of film titles to their credit, they have also compiled two books of the works of M. Krishnan—Eye in the Jungle and Of Birds and Birdsong.
