Abraham Lincoln
Abraham Lincoln, an American jurist, politician and statesman, was born on 12 February 1809. He
became the sixteenth president of the United States in 1861 and was instrumental in ending slavery,
strengthening the federal government and modernizing the American economy. He was assassinated
in 1865 while attending a play at Ford’s Theatre.
