ABOUT THIS BOOK

In the face of the nazis’ relentless pursuit of Jews in annexed territories, a band of polish children managed to escape and find an unlikely safe haven…
Burial of Hearts is a novel inspired by the true story of Sir Digvijaysinhji Ranjitsinhji Jadeja, who offered refuge to Jewish children during World War II when other nations turned them away.

Silana’s quiet, cushioned life in Poland is shattered when her father calls the Gestapo on his own family. She flees her homeland with her siblings to seek shelter in colonial India.

Tara is outraged when her father, the Maharaja of Bramsadha, opens the gates of their Summer Palace to war refugees. Perceiving them as a threat to her ultra-luxurious life, the Princess feels nothing short of loathing for this turn of events.

Yet, as fate causes their paths to be intertwined, Silana and Tara embark on a journey that forever alters the course of their lives. Their unlikely friendship emerges as a testament to the transformative power of empathy. Through their stories, author Shania Sarup reveals that even in the darkest of times, compassion can bridge the most daunting of divides.
