ABOUT THIS BOOK

The Heroes of Cellular Jail unfolds the saga of the heroic deeds of the young revolutionaries during India’s struggle for freedom. It was their immense devotion to their motherland and to see India free that led them to perform valiant deeds. The story forms a glorious chapter in the history of the freedom movement. Many patriots were prosecuted and sentenced for life in the Cellular Jail in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. They underwent untold physical torture and endured extreme mental agony. In jail, they fought many a battle and registered strong resistance against this treatment. They exhibited unparalleled courage and dogged perseverance and became legends in their lifetime. The author’s primary objective is to bring into sharper focus the great sacrifices made and the heroic deeds scripted by these brave men. The book, with several extracts from the personal memoirs of those who were themselves lodged in the Cellular Jail, is one that will surely move the reader.
