AUTHOR OF THE BOOK

In 1805, Charles Lamb was commissioned by William Godwin to write Shakespeare’s plays in the form of tales for children. He undertook the task jointly with Mary, she doing the comedies and he the tragedies. The Tales from Shakespeare were published in 1807 and were a success.
