ABOUT THIS BOOK

What is Maharashtra? What has been the contribution of various communities and castes in making the Maharashtra of today? What makes Mumbai a centre of political power? Why is it that rampage can be unleashed if the city is called by its old name, Bombay? Who is a Maharashtrian?

Sujata Anandan delves into history to unravel multiple layers that explain the complexity of Maharashtrian politics and its impact on the Indian State.

AUTHOR OF THE BOOK

Sujata Anandan has an experience of more than three decades as a journalist through which she has mapped the length and breadth of Maharashtra, fine toothcomb in hand. She has closely observed the state’s society and the rise and decline of its political parties and leaders in their most potent as well as humdrum years in politics.

She has worked for leading newspapers and magazines like Hindustan Times, The Indian Express, Outlook and a wire service, United News of India. While a versatile writer, she has mostly distinguished herself as a noted political analyst.

Sujata is currently a columnist with Hindustan Times. She has also written occasionally for Mint, The Hindu, The Wire, Scroll.in and National Herald, and writes on national issues for Lokmat Times. She lives in Mumbai.
