ABOUT THIS BOOK

In the Shadow of Legend is the disquieting saga of a family, in particular, the women, sucked into the vortex of ruthless ideological warfare spanning two nations, India and the erstwhile Soviet union. This is a fiction novel. The novel bears witness to a blazing history from Tipu Sultan’s violent region, through the dreadful Conscience League-ridden years, to the romantic pre-Perestroika Soviet experience.

AUTHOR OF THE BOOK

Sujata Sankranti was born in Mavelikkara, a small town, located in the scenic Alappuzha District in India’s southern state, Kerala. Hailing from a family of writers, scholars and artists, she was exposed to the richness of a cultural heritage that was an integral constituent of her formative years. After graduating from the University of Delhi, she joined the department of English in Sri Venkateswara College. She was the all round winner of the prestigious Commonwealth Short Story Prize for the year, 1998. Sankranti has published a volume of short stories entitled The Warp and the Weft and other Stories that includes the prize-winning story. This is her debut novel. She lives in Gurgaon with Bhaskar, her husband
